1. Choose a magazine that fits the work

When comparing photography magazines accepting submissions, look at actual editorials and covers, not only follower counts. Check the subject matter, treatment, visual pacing and credit presentation. Ask whether your existing series belongs in that context.

ARTNOIR focuses on black-and-white and monochrome photography, with room for moody, dark-toned and muted-colour work. If this matches your story, explore the published examples before submitting.

2. Edit one coherent story

Pick a strong opening image and arrange the rest so each frame develops the idea. Check the series together for consistent treatment and remove unnecessary repetitions. An editorial title should identify the story rather than simply label it “photos” or “fashion”.

Review the live call before making your final export. Its image count, file format and size requirements take priority over general advice.

3. Confirm permissions and credits

Make sure you are eligible to submit and have the permissions required by the call. Collect correct names, roles, social handles and applicable wardrobe credits before uploading. Confirm the information with your team rather than guessing handles or designer names.

Check exclusivity and prior-publication conditions carefully. Social publication and publication in another magazine may be treated differently by a particular call.

4. Understand what each option provides

Editorial consideration, priority review, cover placement and other services are different offers. Compare the price, included deliverables, timing, conditions and refund policy. A faster review does not automatically mean acceptance.

Where a free standard option exists, distinguish it from optional paid services. Consider an upgrade because its stated deliverables suit your needs, not because you expect guaranteed career results.

5. Complete your Kavyar submission

Open the publisher’s page, select a current call, sign in or create your own account, and follow the upload and credit instructions. Read the selected option again before completing your submission. Keep future questions and corrections in the relevant submission thread.

Kavyar’s account review is separate from a magazine’s decision about your photographs. Complete any account steps requested by Kavyar and keep an eye on messages relating to your work.

6. After the editorial decision

If accepted, check your credits, title, included services and publication timing. Review any optional upgrade against your original acceptance. When publication materials arrive, verify them and share them with accurate contributor credits.

Ask collaborators to check their own credited information where verification is available. If a series is declined, reconsider editorial fit and selection before submitting it elsewhere.
